Assignment

Jelly's simple but powerful assignment helps make responsibility clear within your team.

“I Got This”

The I got this button is Jelly’s quick way to claim a conversation. When you click it:

  • The conversation moves to your “Yours” section

  • It moves to “Assigned to someone else” for other team members

  • Your avatar appears on the conversation, showing everyone you’re handling it

Need to hand off a conversation? You can:

  • Click “I don’t got this“ to release it back to ”Unclaimed”

  • Assign it directly to another team member

  • Add additional assignees for collaboration

The more the merrier

More than one person can be assigned to a conversation for teamwork.

Everyone assigned will see it in their “Mine” section.

Jelly's Assignment Philosophy

Yes, 99% of the time, the person who claimed (or was assigned) a conversation will be the one writing replies and dealing with any consequences of a conversation. But at Jelly we care about helping teams work well together, and so it's useful to think a bit more deeply.

We believe that assignment is more about communicating responsibility than micro-managing work.

A huge amount of energy is wasted in teams when responsibility isn't clear. Crossed wires, poor coordination, important tasks being forgotten, or always falling to the same people... all of it can be traced back to failure to capture and communicate responsibility within the team.

Claiming a conversation is telling the rest of the team

Hey, don't worry — I've got this! I'll make sure that this is dealt with.

Behind the scenes, that might involve bringing other people into the conversation, delegating, collaborating... whatever is required to move the conversation forward.

The assignment doesn't mean "I will do all the work here". It just means "I will make sure the work gets done."
